After his time with Rocket Lab, Beck decided to focus

After his time with Rocket Lab, Beck decided to focus on the company's international operations. Rocket Lab's biggest challenge was to develop and launch its most ambitious rocket. While many launch companies do that, Rocket Lab didn't want to compromise the commercial viability of an established company like SpaceX, so the company built a company-wide business focused on the Chinese satellite market.

"We realized that if we were going to be competitive on commercial space launch, we wanted to be competitive on space launch," Beck said. "We wanted to be a market with the best possible opportunity and we wanted to make it a competitive business. We don't care about other countries and we don't care about the price of space or the value of our payload or our payload, so those are the kinds of things that we think about and want our company to deal with, because we think about it a lot more than they do in other businesses."

Rocket Lab's rockets are ready for the International Space Station (ISS) launch. For more information about the launch of the Electron rocket, check out the Rocket Report and see what we learned.

Posted by Rocket Lab at 9:54 AMWASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday called on Japan to act against North Korea by suspending its nuclear tests and issuing new sanctions, and urged South Korea and the United States to do the same.

"If Japan does not act, then it will be a problem for the United States," Obama told reporters. "We will have to do what is necessary to end this nonsense."

The administration said it did not expect a military strike by North Korea, a U.S. ally, and called for all sides to cooperate on the nuclear standoff, a policy the United States has criticized as being too weak.

Obama also called on South Korea and the United States to conduct additional negotiations on a new nuclear deal and urged them to hold "all options" to resolve the North's nuclear problem, Reuters reported.

North Korea tested a hydrogen bomb test last week. South Korea has warned it is preparing to launch a missile similar to the one being tested.

The United States was concerned about North Korea's long-range rocket and nuclear weapons, but the United Nations says its actions were aimed at halting its nuclear program.
