And then there's the MQB architecture. The MQB architecture is a self-contained architecture, one built around a new chassis with an optional turbocharger. It's still a bit more ambitious than the Jetta, but the car is more of a mass-produced car, with its powertrain, seats, and the usual powertrain and turbocharger components at its core.
So what's to stop the Jetta from beating the Volkswagen Golf in the US market? It's not a new design. In the past 12-plus years, Volkswagen has had nearly as many MQB architecture versions with a variety of wheels, and the Jetta is no different. It's the one that made the Jetta the most popular car on U.S. roads, but it isn't the most popular car on the road.
To help get the Jetta into the US market, you need to be willing to take a risk. You might not sell a Jetta to the rest of the world—or at least to a lot of them in the United States—but you can buy it with cash and then pay the extra $7,500 at the dealer. It's a lot more fun than buying a Jetta in the US that's also a good deal, even if you don't have a car in the U.S. (even if you have one). In the U.S., you're much more likely to get a car that's actually a decent deal than a car with a lot of money. So if you're willing to take a risk, get out there and buy one of the most affordable cars in the world.
There you have it. That's where the Jetta comes in. It's about a car that's made for a specific market group, its most popular, and it's made for a certain type of kid, but not for a kid that's just an idiot on their fourth birthday. It's about a car that's so good, in fact, that it's practically "normal."
And it's the Jetta that's making the best of it all.
