And there is one very important thing that Senator Rubio said Monday: "I'm going to be the one to tell the CEOs of Google, Facebook or the Facebook of all people that they shouldn't have their Facebook accounts blocked."

In addition, Senator Rubio is the only Senator in Congress to vote against the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The TPP, which includes many tech companies from around the world, would have dramatically weakened national privacy protections.

As the Associated Press points out:

[Kathleen] Lehnke, a California Democrat, has opposed the TPP because she believes that it would be a boon to China, and she said she had concerns that it would lead to a "toxic environment in which the Internet's freedoms could be undermined by the government's actions without the oversight of the U.S. government."

There are already privacy bills in Congress, and many of them have failed to advance.

And as a result, it's not surprising that this Republican senator would be opposed to this much-needed reform.

As the Huffington Post pointed out, the idea that they won't have a privacy bill when they are in a power-sharing agreement with China is "ridiculous."

In other words, what we've seen over time in the U.S. Senate is that our communications are protected.

So while Senator Rubio may be against the TPP, he should also be opposed to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

I'm curious to hear if Senator Rubio would support any of these bills when he is in the Senate.

For one thing, it's almost impossible to win in a presidential election, and it is likely that most of the House will not consider the TPP.

But the fact that it is so much more important then any other trade deal is telling.

And of course, Senator Rubio has said he would oppose the TPP if it became law:

I don't think we should be talking about the TPP because it's a big deal. The fact that it's such a serious issue is part of our national security and we need to protect our intelligence and our security. It doesn't mean that the president should be worried about security issues. That's part of what we're talking about. That's why I support the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

So if Senator Rubio really believes that the TPP is a good idea, then it might be worth taking a closer look at the bill.
