As we saw in our review last year, the Apple
As we saw in our review last year, the Apple TV 4K has so much potential for gaming. Its hardware is actually pretty powerful given the type of device it is. It shares development tools and infrastructure with one of the most successful gaming marketplaces in the world—the iPhone and iPad App Store. But a recent announcement shows that, instead of thriving as a gaming platform, Apple TV is struggling.
As we've reported before, the company is currently developing Minecraft for iOS and Android , so in a small way, its support for the Apple TV has been met by Apple's long history of support for other mobile platforms.
That may not seem like much on its own, but it's enough to explain the disconnect between the two.
The big question is, what is the point of the Apple TV, if not a platform for gaming?
There are two options for understanding the Apple TV, for those who are familiar with the Apple TV brand. The first is to assume that the Apple TV is a separate platform (a different category) that needs to be developed for all platforms. That would mean the platform would be a separate platform from the Apple TV, and Apple would need to build it all over. The other is to assume that the Apple TV is a distinct development platform (a different category from the Apple TV).
For those who don't know, Apple is the Apple brand that manufactures the Apple TV. The company has long been known as a developer platform, and the team is very much in charge of the platform's evolution. The team also manages the development process for each platform, to ensure that it runs on the same hardware as the platform they are powering (iPhone and iPad).
When developers get a chance to play with the Apple TV, they're usually asked to test out their platforms (in-app purchases, for instance). In the case of Minecraft, that's often due to a lack of development resources, so the developers are often asked to make changes in the version they're playing on (or in an app if they like). This kind of testing also allows developers to see the strength of the platform. In other words, if a developer wants to test the iPad or iPhone, they can probably test out a different version of the iPad or iPhone. In that case, the developer will be able to see the platform's strength, even if they haven't finished it yet.
For developers, this allows them to test out their platforms. So if they want to test out a different version of the iPad
