I mean, they made a tablet.

I mean, they made a tablet.

That's right—a "real desktop" is not what HP's name indicates, so it might not be the best idea. They have a bit of a gimmick with this new system that is not to be underestimated.

The new design is all about the design. The Surface Pro was designed as a tablet rather than a laptop. As the saying goes, a laptop is a laptop.

So, how does the new Spectre Folio stack up against the current crop of "new" notebooks, and how does it differ from the Surface Pro? Let's take a look.

The Surface Pro is the first modern laptop with a "desktop" in store. This means the Surface Pro runs on Windows 8.1 (and it does), and it also incorporates a new graphics card (Intel's HD Graphics 4000), a new camera and a new CPU. In other words, the current laptop has a "desktop" of a similar design, but with a much smaller footprint and a much lower price tag.

The Surface Pro is a "desktop" at best, and at worst, a very niche one. You can't beat a laptop with a big footprint and low price tag on a tablet, but you can beat a laptop with its desktop-friendly processor and powerful graphics.
