In fact, a number of the victims were discovered lying
In fact, a number of the victims were discovered lying in pools in the lava chamber of their home in Herculaneum. The "honeymoon survivors" are said to have been one of the first to emerge after the eruption, having been discovered by a local fisherman, who reported seeing them in the lake's water. The others are said to have come and gone under unusual circumstances, like being thrown from a boat at enormous speed.
But that may not be enough to convince anyone that the eruption itself was a hoax. It is also possible that the eruption was actually a series of eruptions that were more destructive than the ones to come or at least more likely that a meteorite bomb detonated by the volcanologists actually caused the massive eruption to hit.
However, the latest work suggests that the victims were actually those of the volcano, and not just those who were injured by the eruption. The new analysis, which was published in the May 24 issue of Nature Geoscience, suggests that some of the victims were not simply victims of the volcano itself, but also people who were in a similar situation, and that the volcanic bodies in the lake were actually of the same type. "The lakes of Herculaneum and Herculaneum had the same structure, shape, and size as the lake and river, and are thought to be the same size and shape," explains Killgrove.
The new study also suggests that even though the lava erupted, the bodies were not just frozen or burned out. "We believe that the crater of Herculaneum and Herculaneum was once a hot spot during a geologic process. It was likely the hot spots were burned out and melted, and they were probably filled with other hot, dry lava that cooled," says Killgrove. "The crater is also very hot, so the area of the lava must have been very large, probably several feet, and the lava was likely to have been much larger than those on Herculaneum."
These findings are consistent with findings from the earlier study, which suggests that the volcano was actually a hot spot during the eruption of Vesuvius: "This study suggests that the crater of Herculaneum and Herculaneum used to be a hot spot during a geologic process. It may have been a hot spot during the geologic process, but the lava was probably much larger, probably several feet, and the lava was probably much larger than the lava on Herculaneum"
