In response to the subpoena, Gab has been trying to get the domain name provider to respond to it. Epik announced this week that it would no longer provide the domain name for its "adblocker" product, which prevents content from appearing on sites that don't recognize that it is a Gab site.

Gab's decision to keep its name from the affected site isn't a secret, either—it's being investigated by the FBI, including a "special agent in charge of law enforcement's national security investigation." The company told Ars that the investigation is in its normal "regular business" and that it does not have any interest in the issue as part of its ongoing investigation.

Epik says it is cooperating with the investigation, which is still under way.

Update: On Thursday, the company released a press statement to Ars and said that it is "working with law enforcement to complete its own investigation."A young woman had recently been raped in the town of Al-Rashid in the west of the city. According to a report, she had been raped by two men, but the man claimed she was a victim of a different type of crime – one which he described as "a sexual assault". While he didn't deny the crime, he claimed it was more than just a sexual assault, saying, "We had a pretty good relationship and we met. One of us has been a partner of mine and he's a friend who is a very good friend." The report stated that the two men had been staying in the same house in Al-Rashid for about a month before the rape, and that the two men had been leaving the house together later that evening while they were alone. The report stated there were no further details about the men or women in the residence, and the two men were apparently involved no matter what. The report said the two men have already been charged with rape. The report stated that the report's description of the victim does not match the description of the accused.
