"In the coming days, our partners will share more more details about the process as we continue to learn more about this technology," added Choi. "We plan to release more information as we learn more."

The chip will be made by Samsung's InvenSense technology, which provides an array of sensors that let users monitor the performance of different devices without the need for the actual physical device itself. The chip will also enable the development of a micro-USB 3.0 port that can be plugged into your phone, a standard that's currently restricted to USB 2.0 devices.

With Samsung's 1TB chip in place, Samsung is also introducing an improved USB Type-C port that allows it to be used in the future with its Galaxy S5 and S6, which it claims is capable of supporting up to USB 3.0.

As with Samsung's other upcoming products, Samsung is also unveiling a new Galaxy S8 with a new 3.7-inch display. Other Samsung devices in the series include the Galaxy S8 Plus, the Galaxy S8, and the Galaxy S8 Plus Plus, which are expected to be released later this year.
