In the meantime, the US government continues to funnel government-owned assets to private entities.
A few weeks ago, a new government report revealed that US-backed "private actors" are using $1.4 billion for the "Project Veritas" campaign to keep "the truth" out of the public.
The report, from the Office of the Inspector General, stated, "The US government has allowed private actors to use political, economic, or other means to undermine the democratic process by using an opaque and highly secretive process to gain access to information from agencies and to gain access to classified documents, data and other documents relating to the administration."
The report also stated that the FBI's Office of National Intelligence (ONI) "is working to "take down" any "information that undermines the integrity of the American people and the nation."
The report was authored by Michael Gerson, an ex-custodial clerk who has been a member of the US Senate Intelligence Committee for over two decades and served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for more than four decades in the Obama Administration.
Gerson states: "During the Obama years, I worked closely with the CIA, the FBI, and NSA, both within the Department of Justice, and with the Department of Homeland Security to protect information from outside sources and to safeguard classified information from disclosure by the public. I have also advocated for and championed legislation to keep that information from being used by the U.S. government to target and disrupt foreign governments and individuals."
As is typically the case with US government policy, Gerson's research has been published in the peer-reviewed International Journal of Nuclear Research.
As of today, there are over 100 articles in The Nuclear Society Journal , and over 70 articles in the National Nuclear Security Review .
Last week, the Obama administration issued an executive order allowing the release of documents related to the project on the grounds that such a "grave danger" exists to the safety of American citizens.
This is a very dangerous situation, because the US government has taken the initiative to provide sensitive information to the public via confidential and proprietary information, without any knowledge of what that information actually contains and without the knowledge of those involved.
This may be considered a clear attempt to keep the press and the public from knowing what is really going on.
Even though the US government has been making efforts to conceal the situation, the press still cannot trust the government to investigate these issues.
