After losing his job as a manager at Sony Computer Entertainment America in 2012, Keiichi Yamashita was offered a spot on the executive team of the PlayStation 3 game developers. The PlayStation 3's developer, SCEA, quickly took to Twitter to publicly announce his intention to work with the company.
At the time, the company was still in talks of a possible merger with Sega.
But the news caused a lot of questions. The man who was supposed to be the head of the company and that is Yoshimitsu Saito was not present at E3 in 2012. At his press conference announcing the deal, he said he was excited about the possibility of working with Sega, but didn't feel it was a realistic plan.
