Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella holds up the HoloLens headset with a logo on its website. It will be available for purchase at a discount for military families on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2016.
Nadella also said that the company was happy to partner with "any nation that provides a unique technology."
Microsoft has long been a supporter of the U.S. military. In 2011, Microsoft purchased the Defense Department's Defense Research and Development Center in Bethesda, Maryland to invest in the development of HoloLens, the first wearable computer technology on the market. The company also invested in the development of the HoloLens platform for the military.
Microsoft is also a proponent of open data and digital privacy. In a December 2013 email, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated, "We support open data and open information technologies which we believe will allow the government to more honestly and effectively address the information and privacy implications of the data collection and storage of information that they collect. We will keep this technology in our hands."
Microsoft's acquisition of DARPA in 2014 brought the company's interest in cybersecurity to a higher level. In 2015, the company announced that it was working on a new platform for Microsoft Office — a partnership with the Microsoft Foundation.A Florida man was arrested after he shot and killed a woman in a Walmart parking lot early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Authorities said they received a report of shots fired between 10 a.m. and 2 a.m. at the Walmart parking lot at 903 Main Street, according to a police report.
The suspect was taken to Highland Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead after the shooting, the report said.
Police said officers recovered a gunshot wound to the chest and a gunshot wound to the back of the neck from the suspect.
The shooting is being treated as a homicide.
No other information was immediately available.
