On April 12, a Russian cosmonaut named Sergey Murshev, who is also named in the Russian Space Commission's list of candidates, was selected as the new cosmonaut of the year, after his nomination was made public. Murshev is one of six men from Russia, all of whom are also selected in the Russian list, who will serve out their second and third terms.

The Commission has not yet decided on the next president of the Russian Union. In any event, we can hope that the new list will be published by the end of the year, and that the Commission will have ample time to update the list, to ensure the full coverage.
Russian cosmonaut candidates will also be given the right to vote on whether they wish to perform their duties. According to the Russian Space Agency's website, it is a "long-held policy" that all Russian women and men in space must be nominated to the Commission within 10 years of beginning their careers.
