The film is the second for Colleen Shipman to be involved in a serious romantic dispute. On Mars, Space Shuttle Columbia was carrying a male astronaut, Mars Odyssey. The film follows the crew as they journey to Mars, but after the mission, the crew becomes suspicious of the crew's activities on Mars.

The film was produced by Skybox Pictures and will be starring Tom Cruise, James Spader, Mark Ruffalo, and Kristen Wiig. The movie will be directed by Scott Rudin and produced by Skybox Pictures.
