The first time I saw a female Doctor on television, with the appearance of a black male Doctor, was for the final season's "A Year in the Life of the Doctor," in which the Doctor is played by the celebrated actress Sally Yates. On a different set, that same season, I saw John Hurt portraying the first female Doctor as a young doctor in the series finale, "The Man Who Fell." And that was before he even started his career in the first series.

Earlier this month, the White House sent a letter to Congress requesting that the use of drones be authorized to spy on individuals in the United States, a senior administration official said.

That request was also denied on Friday.
