The governor has promised to sign the measure into law, saying it would help California's economic growth and spur clean energy growth.

"This is a good step forward for the future of California and the economy," Assembly President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg said at a press conference Wednesday. "It's good news for California, and for our neighbors, and for California's future."

The bill's passage marks a milestone in the push of the Obama administration to cut greenhouse gas emissions, and also a milestone in the state's bid to push the federal government to reduce greenhouse gas pollution.

The bill also puts the brakes on California's carbon emissions from power plants under the Obama administration's Clean Power Plan. The U.S. Department of Energy, in consultation with the U.S. Department of Commerce, is already working on a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants by 2040, but the state's goal is to cut those emissions by about 50 percent by 2033.

California's plan would end the U.S. Clean Power Plan's requirement that California be the only state to buy renewable energy energy.

The bill also expands the California Electric Code, which is designed to regulate solar and wind power, to include those technologies.

"This is a real step forward in California's efforts to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and make the state more competitive in the global clean energy market," said Sen. They do not have a ton of talent. I want to say this about this team: They don't have a lot of talent. They are not an elite team. They have a lot of poor play. The biggest problem they have is the lack of coaching.
