The press release announcing the layoffs said that the departures were not the result of a "fiscal error in our budget."

Virgin Galactic will close four of its six VSS Unity spaceships and three of its seven Falcon 9 launches in the coming months. It will also lay off more than 80 employees.

Virgin Galactic has previously announced plans to add an Ariane 6 rocket to its Falcon 9 rocket in preparation for the new launch of the Falcon Heavy. The company also has planned to bring down more than 400 Ariane 6 satellites and the Falcon Heavy's first two boosters.

The announcement also comes at a time when the company is facing criticism for an $8 billion acquisition of United Launch Alliance. After the company bought ULA in a deal that was approved by government regulators and ultimately rejected by the government, Virgin Galactic will acquire one of the two Ariane 6 engines in the Falcon 9 rocket.The man who was shot dead in the Las Vegas Strip on Friday had been arrested as a result of a grand theft car chase, officials said on Friday.

The man, identified only as "John Doe" by the authorities, was shot and killed in front of his mother and a family friend at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on Friday night. He was the second person of note fatally shot by a Las Vegas police officer in the span of two days this year.

Las Vegas Police Superintendent Anthony Batts said at a news conference Friday that the man, whose name has not been released, had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

"He is wanted for the shooting at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino," Batts said. "This was followed by a separate grand theft car chase with the shooting of another person. The motive is still being investigated."

Police are asking anyone with information that could help them identify the man's real killer.

"This will be a very sad day for the family and friends of those who have lost loved ones this afternoon, and for the entire community," Batts said in a news release. "In light of the tragic events of last week, we are asking all of you to come forward."

A federal grand jury began investigating the shooting late Friday night. The grand jury also turned down a request by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to investigate whether Mr. Doe was involved in the shooting.
