The second-gen modules will offer significantly more bandwidth than the first-generation parts, giving fans plenty of power. AMD says that the second-gen modules will be able to reach up to 50W per channel with its Threadripper 2.0, making them ideal for gaming. The cooling solution will be supported by AMD's new M.2 cooling solution.
The second-gen parts are designed to run at a level that makes them ideal for overclocking. The M.2 modules will feature dual-socket cooling solutions, and the new modules will feature dual-socket cooling solutions, but they will feature a maximum of four-socket configurations. Both of the modules will feature a single CPU cooler, and both will run at speeds up to 1,000W per channel.
The new parts will be available in Q2 of 2013 when the second-generation modules ship. The first-generation modules will ship in Q1 of 2014, and the first-generation module will ship in Q2 of 2015.Travis Coons
