This is not the first time that renewable energy has
This is not the first time that renewable energy has attracted attention from the Obama administration. In September, the administration also said it had "no plans" to abandon its effort to build a wind farm on federal land in West Virginia, in part because of concerns over the potential for massive wind power, and the administration's recent comments about the need to build a more efficient power plant in India's energy-poor state of Gujarat.
However, while the Obama administration has said it expects to complete its project in 2020, in the US, the energy sector is already facing a major challenge. According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), US power capacity in the US is expected to be down 4.2GW over the next ten years, from the current estimate of 10GW, and by a wide margin, to 18GW. According to the most recent estimates of the EIA, the energy sector is expected to grow by about 8.5GW over the next ten years, from the current forecast of 15GW.
In the short term, the number of power plants operating in the US will rise, as will the number of new solar and wind projects. But in the long run, the number of new wind and solar projects to become operational in the US is likely to increase.
For example, from 2014 to 2020, the number of wind projects to be built in the US will increase from 1,200 to 2,547. The wind sector, like the wind industry, will be even more important, as it will be the biggest source of energy for a growing number of consumers. The wind power generation capacity in the US is expected to grow by a significant proportion, as the number of wind turbines in the US will be able to meet the demand of up to a third of this decade's generation. According to the EIA, this will result in a new generation of 3GW of new wind capacity – a level of 1GW that is expected to surpass the last generation of 1GW of the US grid in 2018. (See map below for a map of the new capacity additions.)
The EIA's projections include forecasts of a potential new US power sector, and the report also predicts that the next generation of renewable generation would be in the US, and that it would come from wind power. If the US is not to grow by this number, the next generation of wind and solar power will begin to replace the old generation, and the US is expected to experience one of the largest, fastest-growing, and most competitive power
