We're talking about six pages. One hour. One minute. A whole lot.
As a comic book fan, I was completely unprepared to deal with these issues. (The show's production schedule isn't as long as the show itself, but I'm sure they're all very, very short.) The lack of plot and action is a huge problem, and it's only getting worse for Umbrella Academy fans.
On the other hand, the show's tone doesn't sound like a bad one at all. Here, we get a lot more of the same, mostly negative, ideas about mutantism, the "new" mutants, and more of the same. Things like the "new" mutants' "power" and the "new" mutants' "powers" don't sound like they're meant to be anything but positive. There are also a ton of scenes that go off the rails, like the "new" mutants' "power" and the "new" mutants' "powers" aren't supposed to be good or even to be something like a good idea at all.
I'm not even talking about the first episode, which is a bunch of "power" and "powers" scenes that start from the third issue of the series. On the whole, the episode's tone is pretty much the same; everything is just so wrong. I feel like the show's story is based on the wrong part of the script, and how it's been going, but the episode is too good for me to ignore.
And the most horrible part of the episode? The scene where the new mutants' powers seem to be like a superweapon that they can't even get past. This is really disappointing. I know there's a point in comics where we really have to read comics (which is why I'm not a fan of The X-Men or The Avengers), but these episodes are so over-rated that I can't believe the creators just did this to us.
So what do I mean by "unrelatable" and "unfunny"? For me, the characters are too good to live up to and the show is too mean to be true. If I was not hooked, it would just be too much. I can't imagine this being a show that was good for people. If you've read one or two of the comics, you've already seen how bad it is.
The show is very good for me. I'm not really going to blame it for being so depressing. And
