The woman, who has been on a drug regimen that is not approved by the American Medical Association, was invited to the Ottawa meeting and spoke to reporters at length about her illness.
"I've been doing things that I can't stop because I've been diagnosed with something that I don't want to stop," she said.
"I still have a lot of pain in my legs and I can't get out of bed and I'm still having some of the things that I needed to do to get through the week.
"I don't want to just make excuses or say I'm going to do it again and I never will since I have to spend my time doing it again."
She was also asked about her life after the meeting.
She said she started living off of food and was able to feed herself through food banks.
"I was able to work on my own at school for the last few months due to the fact I was getting sick every day while I was doing school work," she said. "I don't think I've ever had any health issues and I'm getting better every day."
"I have to say I thought, 'Well, if I'm going to work, would I be allowed to do it?'"
She has not worked since.
The woman's name has not been released by CBC News.A video posted on YouTube by a member of the public shows a man standing in front of a truck with a gun as it drives past him.
