When asked to comment on the apps' alleged use of phishing sites and the number of apps downloaded, Trend described its policy as "an extremely positive move," stating that it would not be able to prevent any of the apps from being downloaded.

The reports followed a series of revelations published by Trend Micro on Friday. Last month, Google Inc. announced plans to deploy a new, high-security attack that could target Google's Chrome and Firefox operating systems. The attack could wipe out the social network's data centers and data on users.

"As we are seeing more and more apps downloaded, it's a big blow for the future of our Internet," said David Schiller, a security analyst at Trend Micro who studies privacy and security. "We're in a good position to protect our data."

Google's move comes after Google issued a privacy advisory for users that said it was concerned about the proliferation of these types of apps.

Google's recent decision to remove some of the most popular and popular Android apps came after a number of Google's products were attacked by phishing scams. Google said it would consider reducing the number of apps it will remove in the second half of 2017, but has not yet finalized plans.
