It's an intriguing rumor that has gotten some attention since the publication of the rumors. The Yankees have already been linked to the free-agent right-hander, who hit .270/.349/.571 with a .624 OPS in the big leagues, as well as the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners. They've also been linked to the right-handed relief pitcher Ryan Madson with an $800MM contract.

Madson and a number of other Yankees pitchers are believed to have been in talks for free agency, with several teams reportedly interested in bringing the 23-year-old to New York in the summer of 2011. The Yankees have also been linked to Cuban right-hander Francisco Rodriguez who has a $200MM salary.

Madson is a major-league right-hander who can pitch and strike out for power. He's a hard-throwing pitcher who can throw the ball out and not give up a single ground ball.
